2. Maryann Castine, from Multimedia Marketing gave a presentation on the Mayor's Cup Race. Castine explained that the Mayor's Cup is the largest sailing event in the area. Mayor Kasprzac and Dr. Kjeil Dahlen have been working to transform the event into an affordable, enjoyable event for everyone. The event will be scaled down, but will still provide quality activities and participation. Information is also available at www.mayorscup.com.

This year the focus is on the traditional race. The public will be offered an opportunity to view the race from boats. This will offer people a more up close and personal view of what happens in the boating competition.

There will also be a Sailor's Ball -"Splash Party" held on a Ferry boat and a boat parade contest.

Five hundred free bicycle helmets will be distributed at the bike safety portion of the celebration to be held at the Lake Champlain Transportation Museum and is sponsored by Martin, Harding and Mazotti.

Castine explained the emphasis and planning that is going into making the Quadricentennial, a great experience for the North Country and Plattsburgh in 2008 and 2009. The Quadricentennial commerates Samuel D. Champlain’s arrival in North America. More information on the Mayor’s Cup and the Quadricentennial can be found at www.adbiz.tv/rotary.zip. This is a large file and may take a while to download.

3. Alison Guerin from Plattsburgh State made a presentation on a proposal to collaborate with the PDA on the downtown clean up May 5th. This is called Project Help. She and her group are hoping this will become a seasonal event. She will take her proposal to the Common Council this evening, April 12, 2007, for approval. She is proposing to have several bands perform in Trinity Park following the clean up.

4. Tom Lavin gave an update on the Summer Art series, and passed out sample brochures and sponsorship forms. Tentative dates and performances are being finalized. The Adirondack Regional Theater is performing Seussical, and an effort is being made to structure more family events. A Family Fun Day, August 4th, would be a benefit for the Strand Restoration Project.
