Chris presented the agenda for the meeting. He started by explaining that the board had recently met and decided to meet on a regular basis between general meetings. He also said that the board would like to adopt a less casual approach to the general meetings possibly in the style of Robert's Rules of Order. The board would like to adhere to the agenda and topics of immediate concern while reserving the end of meetings for open, general discussion.

The snow-sculpting workshop on January 21st was discussed as to where things stood. Chris said that the "Friends of Sculpting, Inc." were all set; Gregory's had lumber for the forms ready; and Kelly King of City Recreation told him there was plenty of snow at P ARC for harvesting. Chris said the theme of the event would be the Winter Olympics. Linda Hill spoke about the Chili Cook -off It is set for the Trinity Church basement and will also have live musicians and a craft fair. She has sent out a media blurb to a wide list of media outlets. She will start setting up at around 9:00 a.m. Chris has applied for the necessary Health Dept. permit. Volunteers will pick up chili at 11 :00 at nearby restaurants.

Pam Miller and Barbara Gallagher from the Plattsburgh Farmers and Crafters Market spoke about the upcoming season. They said the market would open on May 13th. They said that last year went very well and they expect this year to go as well. When asked, they said that the mural project is on hold as there were no funds obtained for it. They are hoping to get a new food vendor. Chris suggested that the PDA might be able to assist in coordinating downtown restaurants to act as food vendors on a rotating basis. He said that most restaurants would not be able to commit to each weekend throughout the season but might be interested in single weekends.

Tom Lavin gave more information on the work that lody Leavens and he are doing in regard to raising sponsorships for the summer arts events. He handed out a proposed brochure and sponsorship package as well as a print of a presentation they will conduct. The board will need to meet to review these materials. They are hoping to start actively pursuing this soon and have April 15th be the closing for accepting sponsorships. He said they would be approaching service groups like Rotary and many businesses.

Bill Holzer from Warren Tire Co. was introduced. He said that Warren Tire Co. was very interested in being involved in the PDA's efforts. He suggested that they could sponsor a Tube sliding event as part of our winter festival. Chris said it is too late to organize it for this year. However, many thought it would be good to plan for next year as another added event.

Chris announced that the next meeting would be at Giovanni's (2/8/06 at 8:30 a.m.) with Bruce Carlin from Media Central speaking on the 2006 Mayor's Cup. He said that he is trying to get a spokesperson from Lake Plaid's Beautification committee to speak at the March meeting. Some discussion ensued regarding the planters and hanging flower baskets that are around Downtown in the summer. Rosemarie reiterated that the hanging baskets are a donation of the Rotary P.M. club.

Treasurer's Report - No activity during the past month. Leisa stated the current balance in the account is $1,046.91. She said that 17 donations are expected for the snow-sculpting workshop totaling about $1,000. She said that $300 was donated towards the recent tree lighting and that the PDA paid the laborer for the installation leaving about $75.
